National Geographic Society: Marine Education Workshops

November 2025 saw the first-ever National Geographic Youth Changemaker Convening in West Africa!

The Coral Reefstoration Ghana team delivered “Slingshot Activation – Dive Lab Experience” in Accra, a workshop bringing ocean literacy, conservation storytelling, and hands-on exploration to over 250 students to help young people step boldly into their “Explorer Mindset”.

Launched in 2022 by the National Geographic Society and Allen Family Philanthropies , the Slingshot Challenge is a global initiative empowering youth ages 13–18 with the Explorer Mindset, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to transform environmental challenges into impactful solutions.

Mentoring the Winning Team

Out of 5,926 youth participants from 104 countries worldwide, Team Nsuo-Pa, has emerged as one of the 15 global award recipients in the 2026 Slingshot Challenge!

The Coral Reefstoration Ghana is mentoring Team Nsuo-Pa to develop a water purification system pilot.
